Hiking and Music in Scotland “Niel Gow’s Scotland” Sept 25 - Oct 2, 2009
Join Ed Pearlman and a Scottish guide on a cultural walking tour of Scotland this fall. Hike Scotland by day, and meet and hear some of Scotland’s finest musicians every night! As a fiddler, teacher, music columnist for Scottish Life magazine, and former distributor of the music of Scotland, Ed will offer colorful perspectives on tunes, fiddlers, and lore of various areas. Listen to fiddler Bruce MacGregor of Blazin Fiddles and BBC Scotland in Simon Fraser country near Inverness; take a walking tour and listen to Niel Gow expert and renowned fiddler Pete Clark, followed by a local session in Niel Gow’s home area; see and hear Niel Gow’s own violin played live; listen to Gaelic songs and stories from Gaelic gold medal singer Gillebride Macmillan at the remote Loch Ossian in the Highlands, and more! The trip is being organized by agencies in both Scotland and America. If you are interested in this trip, please email Julie at Distant Journeys for more information.
